Anti-Ragging

We, at VESIM, have always tried to maintain a positive and congenial campus environment that will make any new entrant feel comfortable, and protect them from ragging. Ragging is a punishable offence as per the AICTE Notification File No.37-3 / Legal / AICTE/2009, Dated – 1.7.2009 and Maharashtra Prohibition of Ragging Act, 1999.

There is an Anti-ragging Committee at VESIM. The committee comprises of teachers and student volunteers. All cases of ragging are referred to this committee. We have adopted a "ZERO TOLERANCE POLICY" towards any such criminal activity. Hence, prompt disciplinary action is the motto of the committee against students who indulge in ragging.

Any student found guilty of ragging is liable for any of the following punishments, depending upon the magnitude of offence.

  • Suspension from the classes

  • Expulsion from the campus

  • A public apology followed by a fine

  • Debarring from attending any test/placement activities/examination

  • Withholding results

Anti-Ragging Committee A.Y. 2025 - 26

The following shall be the Members of Anti-Ragging Committee of Vivekanand Education Society Institute of Management Studies and Research for the academic year 2025 - 26.

Anti-Ragging Awareness Campaign by Student Cell

The Anti-Ragging Committee and its Student Cell of Vivekanand Education Society’s Institute of Management (VESIM) organized an Awareness Campaign aimed at educating students about the consequences of ragging. As part of the initiative, committee members personally visited each classroom and interacted directly with students, engaging them in meaningful discussions on the emotional, academic, and legal impact of ragging — both on the perpetrators and the victims.

The sessions emphasized how ragging negatively affects not only individuals but also the overall learning environment and reputation of the institution. Students were encouraged to build positive relationships founded on respect, mentorship, and empathy.

Through this classroom-level awareness drive, the committee successfully reinforced VESIM’s zero-tolerance policy towards ragging and inspired students to contribute to maintaining a safe, inclusive, and supportive campus culture.

Awareness about In-House Counsellor for Student Well-Being

The Anti-Ragging Committee of Vivekanand Education Society’s Institute of Management (VESIM) undertook an initiative to create awareness among students, faculty, and staff about the availability of an In-House Counsellor on campus. This initiative aimed to ensure that every member of the VESIM community has access to professional guidance and emotional support whenever needed.

The counsellor is available on campus to assist with daily stress management, emotional regulation, crisis intervention, and other mental health and well-being concerns. By promoting awareness of this facility, the Anti-Ragging Committee emphasised the importance of mental wellness as a key component of a safe and positive academic environment.

Through this initiative, VESIM reaffirmed its commitment to fostering a caring, inclusive, and supportive campus culture, where students feel empowered to seek help and maintain emotional balance alongside their academic growth.

Anti-Ragging Awareness through Board Display Activity

As part of the Anti-Ragging Awareness Initiative during the Induction Programme 2025, VESIM’s Anti-Ragging Committee organized an engaging Board Display Activity planned by the Anti-Ragging Committee-student cell under the guidance of Dr. Kavita Kanabar and Dr. Neha Verma to sensitize first-year students about the harmful effects of ragging. The activity encouraged students to express their emotions and expectations through two interactive sections — “What Ragging Feels Like” and “Expectations from Seniors.” Using colourful sticky notes, students shared honest thoughts about fear, isolation, mentorship, and friendship.

The event witnessed enthusiastic participation, creative engagement through photos and reels, and meaningful discussions that highlighted the importance of empathy and respect. The activity not only raised awareness about the legal and emotional consequences of ragging but also reassured students of VESIM’s zero-tolerance policy toward it. This initiative reinforced the institute’s commitment to fostering a safe, inclusive, and respectful campus culture where every student can thrive.

Digital Poster Competition Organized by Anti-Ragging Committee

The Anti-Ragging Committee organized a “Digital Poster Competition” for MMS First- and Second-Year students to promote creativity and awareness on social responsibility. A large number of entries were received, out of which 15 posters were shortlisted for the final round. Based on creativity, theme, and visual appeal, two students were declared winners for their outstanding posters.

All the shortlisted posters were displayed for 15 days on the 3rd Floor Notice Board, allowing the student community to appreciate their peers’ work. Both the winners and all participants were awarded E-Certificates in recognition of their enthusiastic participation and artistic efforts.

Anti-Ragging Awareness through Displays and Selfie Stand

To promote awareness and sensitize VESIM’s faculty, staff, and students about the importance of preventing ragging, the Anti-Ragging Committee organized a series of visual awareness initiatives across the campus. Standees and posters carrying anti-ragging messages were displayed at key locations such as the Auditorium, Library, Canteen, and Hostel, ensuring maximum visibility and impact. Faculty, students, and staff took their selfies pledging “No to Ragging.”

Additionally, the list of Anti-Ragging Committee members was prominently displayed at strategic points within the institute, making it easier for students to reach out for guidance or support when needed. In line with UGC guidelines, a selfie stand with an anti-ragging theme was also set up, where students, faculty, and staff enthusiastically participated by taking selfies, symbolizing their collective commitment to a ragging-free campus.

These initiatives reinforced VESIM’s dedication to creating a safe, inclusive, and respectful learning environment for all.

VESIM’s Anti-Ragging Committee organized an Anti-Ragging Awareness Skit at VESIMSR’s Ground Floor Auditorium under the guidance of Ms. Bhavika Goplani, Dr. Kavita Kanabar and Dr. Neha Verma. The event aimed to create awareness about the harmful effects of ragging and to promote a culture of respect and empathy among students.

The session featured a two-part presentation — an impactful short film highlighting the emotional, academic, and legal consequences of ragging, followed by a live skit titled “Respect Builds Futures,” performed by MMS students. The performances sensitized students to the psychological and social effects of ragging while encouraging positive alternatives such as mentorship and friendship.

The program concluded with all participants taking a pledge of “No to Ragging,” reaffirming VESIMSR’s commitment to a safe, inclusive, and respectful learning environment for all students.
