Experiential learning helps in better understanding of challenging and complex operations management concepts with observational learning and experience. Making process video involves teamwork and better understanding of the concepts like types of processes, process flow and bottlenecks, Process Improvements, cycle time and throughput time and to understand how processes are important to transform inputs into predetermined outputs.
Objectives of the Event:
This Experiential learning activity is designed for First year MMS students (310 students) to understand the concept of production and service processes, where students learn to analyze the process and give their insights with the help of activity “How Things Work- A Peek into processes” experiential learning of Operations management course.
The objectives of this activity is to develop students on technical skillsets like process analysis and insight, conversion process, inputs and outputs, managerial skills development like team building interpersonal skills, coordination, communication, presentation skills etc.
Students make their teams and start working on Video clips approximately 3-4 weeks time is given to them. Total time line of this event from announcement to execution is 5-6 weeks.
Execution of an Event:
After teams are formed and finalized, students have to brainstorm and decide about the Company, organization or outlet on which they are going to make videos.
These edited videos with proper voice-over are submitted to Operations Cell. Screening of all videos is done based on the elimination and evaluation criteria. On the Grand Finale Day all these selected videos are played and student are asked to face the Q and A session is conducted by industry experts. It helps teams to know their understanding on, process insights and challenges faced by the companies etc.
