The HR Cell of VESIM organized the annual event “Every Policy Matters”, designed to provide students a practical platform to understand the importance and impact of effective HR policymaking. The main objective of the event was to help students develop the ability to analyse workplace issues, think strategically, and frame relevant HR policies in response to real-life scenarios.
The competition was conducted in two rounds. In Round 1, teams are given a case study involving a detail of company and were required to draft a 10-point HR policy addressing employee welfare and accident coverage on the shop floor. Based on the quality and relevance of their responses, where shortlisted teams are selected for the final round.
Round 2, challenged the finalists with an on-the-spot policy framing task, followed by presentations and Q&A sessions. Teams were judged on four key parameters: presentation, topic relevancy, problem identification, and number of policy points.
The event not only provided students with a platform to demonstrate their HR capabilities but also promoted critical thinking, teamwork, and clarity in communication. “Every Policy Matters” remains a flagship initiative of the HR Cell, aimed at nurturing future-ready HR professionals.
The esteemed panel members included Mr. Ajay Jhunjhunwala, CHRO at PL Capital Group; Dr. Manoj Pandey, Board Member – Industry Academia & Corporate HR Head; Mr. Pravin Sawant, Senior Vice President and CHRO at 63 Moons Technologies Ltd.; Mr. Abhijit Bose, Head of Human Capital Management at Yes Securities; and Mr. Rakesh Ibrahimkurkar, Vice President – HR at IFTAS.
The panel discussion on “Embracing Workplace Disruptions” brought together industry leaders to explore the evolving dynamics of the modern workplace. Panelists shared insights on adapting to technological advancements, shifting employee expectations, and agile work models, emphasizing the need for resilience, innovation, and inclusive leadership in navigating ongoing workplace transformations.

The primary objective of this visit was to gain a comprehensive understanding of the legality and legal processes involved in labour laws. This hands-on exposure allowed students to understand the workings of the Bombay Labour Court and Industrial Tribunal, especially the procedures involved in the adjudication of cases. Students were exposed to understanding the Case List, Cross-Examinations, Arguments and Pleadings, Stages of Legal Proceedings
For HR students specializing in labour laws, this visit was highly beneficial for they understood Application of Labour Laws by gaining a clearer understanding of how labour laws are applied in real-life scenarios, enhancing our ability to handle employee grievances., Advocacy and Negotiation Skills- the visit improved our understanding of negotiation and persuasion, essential skills for HR professionals. and Legal Procedures and Dispute Resolution- students learned the importance of following legal protocols and gained valuable knowledge of dispute resolution mechanisms.
Panel Discussionon on “Stronger Together – Driving Diversity, Equity And Inclusion Within Organisation And In The Broader Community” 13th April 2023
A dynamic panel discussion on the theme “Stronger Together – Driving Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Within Organizations and the Broader Community” was held at VESIM. Expert panelists shared actionable insights on fostering inclusive workplaces. The session was moderated by Dr. Seema Sant, Associate Dean-HR, and featured engaging, thought-provoking conversations.
The panelists included Ms. Darshana Ramachandran, Assistant Vice President of DEI Solutions at AVTAR, Ms. Beena Sarkar, Head of Customer Success at Crux Intelligence, and Mr. Bhooshan Malkani, Director – HRBP at Digital Ventures (VOOT).
Poster Making competition event was held on 15th October 2022, in B-502 of VESIM. The theme of this event was “Back to the office” with a focus on people management
Centred around the theme “Back to the Office,” the event encouraged students to creatively express ideas on people management in the post-pandemic era, showcasing innovative approaches to workplace reintegration and employee engagement.
The HR cell had organised the event for all PGDM and MMS students of VESIM and VBS based on framing HR polices . The event name was ‘Every Policy Matters.’
The students had to form a team of 2 and there were 2 rounds for this event. The registration was open till 6th April 2022 and we received a total of 18 teams who participated in this event. All teams were given a case study based on which they had to form a 10 point HR policy to address the issue. The case study for round 1 was – A furniture manufacturing company desires to form policies for their shop floor which will provide enough benefit for the employees working there and cover them in case of any accidents.
All the 18 teams had sent their responses and out of which 5 teams were shortlisted and qualified for the 2nd round.
During the 2nd round, which was held on 7th April, all 5 team members were asked to frame policies on the spot and had to formulate the policies within 30 mins. After which each team was randomly called for presentation of their policy. The teams were given 5 minutes to present after which they were asked questions based on the polices they framed and were scored on 4 parameters of 10 marks each. The 4 parameters were PRESENTATION, TOPIC RELEVANCY, PROBLEM IDENTIFICATION & NUMBER OF POINTS INCLUDED IN THE POLICY.
