While shortlisting institutes for my higher studies I was a little uncertain about the course I should Pursue, mainly having a confusion between PGDM program or MMS. My dilemma was solved by few alumni of VESIM who helped me in selecting the course that would enhance my career prospects. The PGDM program at Vivekanand Management Institute is an Industry-Relevant Course and I was impressed when I compared the syllabus with other competing B- schools. The PGDM course is designed keeping in mind the industry's requirements in the emerging businesses scenario. The amendments are made in the Curriculum of PGDM twice a year according to the Industry needs and trends, and these changes are suggested by a separate body which is known as The Board of Studies. My expectations were exceeded once I joined the PGDM Program at Vivekanand Management Institute.
The Institute conducts the Board of Studies to discuss the course content and curriculum with experts from Industry. It is an advisory committee which oversees the delivery of the Program, reviews the course content and makes recommendations accordingly. The meetings are conducted to take a 360-degree review of all the specialization which will be imparted during the academic year. The members advise the institute on academic matters and the need-of-the-hour in the business world. The Board Consists of Experts from the different fields of Industry, directors from various B-schools, Faculty Members and Head of Departments at VESIM along with few Alumni’s. The Dean’s, Director and Area Chairperson of every specialization interact with industry experts from their functional domain to understand the best practices that need to be incorporated in the course. The Board of Studies Meeting helps design a Sound Curriculum and a Flexible Schedule. The alumni from each domain adds value understanding the opportunities in the market. The PGDM course structure also gives emphasis on the booming subject of Business Analytics where the students from all different streams are provided with the expertise of Data analysis which helps them get an edge over the core specializations. The Institute also provides the opportunity of Add on certification courses by SAS, SHRM and IIBF and to encourage an entrepreneurial mindset in students, the institute has collaborated with NEN’s Wadhwani Foundation and has formed an E-Cell named Yuvapreneurs.
Vivekanand Management Institute, for 25 years, is preparing its students to understand, analyze and respond effectively to the uncertainty and complexity in organizational life amidst rapid changes. The Institute indeed is doing a great job and takes a lot of efforts in making its students ready to seize opportunities as they unfold – anytime, anywhere!
