NISM VES Investment Advisory Program

Overview

Today, India is considered one of the fastest growing economies in the world, with an average GDP rate of 7%. Thus, the exponential rise in the working population and an excellent GDP rate, signals a bright future for investment advisory firms.
 
The increasing demand for reliable investment advisers has driven VES to partner with National Institute of Securities Market (NISM) to offer NISM - VES Investment Adviser Program. NISM is an institute promoted by Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI). The program aims at helping candidates acquire necessary skills and knowledge required to succeed as an investment adviser.

 
Program Objectives

An investment adviser is a person who helps investors to make sound investments. An adviser analyses the finances of the client, and help them create a secure and sound financial plan. Investment advice means any form of advice provided in relation to investment, purchase, sale or dealing in securities or investment products. It also includes advice on a portfolio of securities or investment products and financial planning.
 
The program objectives are designed to help upcoming investment advisers meet the aforementioned responsibilities efficiently. The objectives are:
  • Developing a basic understanding of investment advisory, steps in the advisory process, making and implementation of financial plan
  • Developing an understanding of the investment risks, strategies, and returns offered by various financial products.
  • Developing an in-depth understanding of different types of taxes, legal perspectives of estate planning and regulatory aspects underlying advisory.
  • Developing an understanding of various aspects of financial planning, such as investment, retirement planning, as well as providing an aid to advisers for developing long-term client relationships with their clients.
 

Eligibility

The candidate must be a graduate or a post-graduate from any recognized Indian University. Selection will be made on the basis of interview.
 

Duration & Schedule

It is a two-month program. The classes will be conducted on Sundays.

 
Evaluation and Assessment Process

Students will be evaluated on the basis of the following:
  • Meeting 80% attendance requirement set by VESIM
  • Case studies and assignments by students will be evaluated during the classroom phase.
