The lure of a rosy corporate career is hard to ignore. Being drawn to a dream of a corporate career, seeking an MBA from a reputed institute was an obvious choice for me after graduation. I am glad that I landed up at Vivekanand Management Institute. Though the faculty at the institute were supportive, they made me realize that the role of a manager or a top executive is complex than what I thought, and comes with its own set of risks and challenges. We (I and my batch mates) were taught through several real-world case scenarios during classroom sessions. Our faculty members challenged us to come up with solutions at the end of these sessions. All these help initiate a rational thought process in us, which has helped me all these years. We also had a great time learning from guest lecturers who were distinguished subject matter experts with vast industry experience. They have not only helped us understand the nuances of various subjects but also shared their working experiences in the corporate sector, and warned us about pitfalls awaiting us in the future.
Some wise nuggets of thoughts given by our director during the lectures at VESIM seem to be evergreen and even today inspire me during my tough times and keep me going on. In addition to the faculty members, there were several other non-teaching staff who made our lives easier, and supported us immensely during our study days. One such person was our librarian Geeta madam, who has been serving the library there for close to two decades made the learning and reading experience enjoyable and fruitful. I am really thankful to VESIM for giving me this opportunity to express my thoughts.
