MMS FAQs

What is MMS?

The Master of Management Studies, abbreviated as MMS, is the two-year, full-time post graduate program of VESIM. The program is approved by the University of Mumbai, and also by AICTE, it has received NBA accreditation for academic years 2016-2017, 2017-2018 & 2018-2019.


What are the specializations offered?

VESIM offers MMS in the following specializations:
  • Finance
  • Marketing
  • Human Resource Management
  • Operations
  • Information Technology

What is the student intake for MMS?

The intake is 180 students.
Break-up for the course:
  • 1st Shift - 120
  • 2nd Shift - 60
  • Total - 180

What is the course structure for MMS?

MMS program is spread over four semesters (2 semesters in each year) as per the guidelines of the University of Mumbai. The first year subjects are common across all specializations.

What are the shift timings for the course?

The shift timings are:
  • 1st Shift: 8:30 am to 2:30 pm
  • 2nd Shift: 10 am to 4 pm
 
The Application Process

When should I apply for the course?

The admissions to the MMS course are as per the DTE Rules and conducted through the Centralized Admission Procedure (CAP) Round. For regular updates on the CAP round, students can visit DTE website i.e. www.dtemaharashtra.gov.in.


Can I apply for the course offline?

You can apply against the CAP - Vacant/Cancellation seats offline if you are registered for the CAP round and fulfill other criteria laid down by DTE for the admissions. To know about institute level admissions, you can call or visit the institute or institute website for details.


How should I apply for the CAP - Vacant/Cancellation seats?
The dates for issue and submission of forms will be prescribed and notified on the Notice Board and on website. During these dates students can visit the VESIM campus on any working day from Monday to Saturday between 10.00 am to 5.00 pm to apply against the CAP - Vacant/Cancellation seats. Students can purchase Application Form by paying Application cost of Rs 1200/- in cash.


I have missed the last deadline, can I still apply?

If you have missed the last deadline, we recommend you to contact our office during the working hours 10.00 am to 5.00 pm. If cancellations occur, we may still consider your application as per the DTE Rules. The applications will be assessed on a merit basis.


Admissions and Selection Criteria

Am I eligible for seeking admission to MMS course at VESIM?

We follow the Admission Rules, Admission Procedure guidelines laid down by University of Mumbai and DTE, State of Maharashtra. Basic requirements for admissions are:
  • A Graduation from any recognized Indian University or institutions with minimum 50% marks.
  • Candidate / Applicant must have CET prescribed / notified by DTE for that particular academic year.
  • Entrance exam score is necessary for admission to MMS as the cut-off is decided by the DTE on this basis. The CAP vacant/cancellation seats of the institute are also filled on the merit of the entrance exam scores.

Will you consider previous year’s CET score this year?

No.


Is VESIM a linguistic minority institute?

Yes. VESIM is a Linguistic Minority Institute (Mother Tongue - Sindhi, Applicant should be domiciled in Maharashtra). Out of 180 seats, 51% seats are reserved for the Sindhi linguistic minority students of Maharashtra State.


What is a Selection Procedure for MMS?

The admissions to the MMS programme are strictly made on the basis of the selection procedure mentioned in the Information Brochure available on the DTE-Maharashtra website i.e. www.dtemaharashtra.gov.in
The students who are allotted VES Institute of Management Studies and Research are required to produce these certificates (click here for the list).
Note: If a candidate fails to submit the original certificates within the deadline, the admission shall be treated as cancelled, and no refund shall be granted.


What are the documents required for reserved category students?


Students belonging to the reserved category are required to submit the following documents at the time of admission:
  • Caste certificate for S.C./S.T./V.J./N.T.-1/N.T.-2/N.T.-3/O.B.C./S.B.C. categories.
  • Caste validity certificate for S.C./S.T./V.J./N.T.-1/N.T.-2 N.T.-3/O.B.C./S.B.C. categories.
  • Non creamy layer For V.J./N.T.-1/N.T.-2 /N.T-3/O.B.C./S.B.C categories

Tuition and Funding

How much is the program fee?

The MMS Fees during 2017-18 (including the other fees payable to University) was Rs. 2,16,523/- for the first year and Rs. 2,00,748/-. for the second year. The fees are revised/fixed as per the fee structure approved by the Shikshan Shulk Samiti


What is the payment process for the program? Can I pay in installments?

Payment of fees in installment is not available. Students are required to pay the fees for each year at one time.

Students successfully completing MMS can pursue a career in banks, industry, financial sectors, consultancies, as well as large corporate organizations.
